Scope

Research on electromagnetic and light scattering, or briefly light scattering, is topical across science and technology. ELS'XII concentrates on theoretical, computational, experimental, and observational aspects of light scattering by particles with varying sizes, shapes, and optical properties, as well as multiply-scattering media composed of such particles. ELS'XII is strikingly cross-disciplinary, addressing research in, for example, astronomy, astrophysics, meteorology, atmospheric physics, geophysics, remote sensing, biology, and medicine.

The ELS conference series has had a triple start in Amsterdam (1995), Bremen (1996), and Helsinki (1997). It has continued in New York (1998), Vigo (1999), Halifax (2000), Gainesville (2002), Bremen (2003), Salobrena (2005), St. Petersburg (2006), Bodrum (2007), and Hatfield (2008).
